Abstract
Frustratingly little is known about late third millennium education. Surviving fragments both reveal continuity with Early Dynastic practices and hint at the roots of practices better known to us from Old Babylonian sources. This article presents new fragments of Ur III school texts from Girsu and reviews them in the context of previously known material to investigate their place in the history of education in ancient Mesopotamia.
