Abstract
An examination of Edvard Munch's involvement with the avant-garde Théà¢tre de l'Oeuvre in Paris in the staging of the plays of his fellow Norwegian Henrik Ibsen in the 1890s and how his engagement with the theatre informed his prints and paintings as dramas of the soul and inner emotion.
