Abstract
In 1900, a remarkable repository was discovered in the 'Library Cave' (Cave 17) of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, China. It contained tens of thousands of manuscripts, as well as a smaller number of paintings, textiles, prints and wooden artefacts. This article explores the collaboration between the Dunhuang Academy and the British Museum and new investigations into the dye palette of the Dunhuang textiles.
