Abstract
Twenty-four papers from a 1992 conference at the British Museum at which archaeologists and scientists met to discuss current scientific projects and approaches to the study of the Early Modern period. The essays here are divided into six themes: North American contact studies, ceramic studies, glass studies, precious metal studies, copper-based alloys and other metals. Objects studied include lead-cloth seals, glass ingots, French stoneware and the other materials which transversed the post-medieval globe.
