Damage can be prevented using transport packing providing both adequate shock absorption and vibration isolation. This research demonstrated that standardized packing with enhanced vibration mitigation is achievable for three-dimensional objects in a busy museum environment. Based on state-of-the art predictive modelling, extensive engineering and collection care expertise, a calculator tool was developed that allows users to create packing with improved vibration isolation by using the overall dimensions and weight of an object. This research highlighted that effective vibration mitigation can only be designed in a concerted cross-disciplinary effort by engineers and collection care professionals. %G English %[ 2024-03-29 %9 Journal article %~ Hyku %W British Museum
